Our Story (The Short Version: We’ve Been Around a While)

Rich Locksmith Legacy in Dallas, TX

Golden’s Keys is a family-run locksmith shop with deep roots, a lot of keys, and even more stories.

It all started back in 1961 when Al and Perle Golden opened Casa Linda Keys in a cozy little 8x8 kiosk — about the size of a generous walk-in closet. Their son Paul joined them in 1963, and before long, it was a full-fledged family affair.

By 1970, Paul’s son Robert began spending Saturdays at the shop with his father, learning the ropes from a young age.


In 1979, Paul officially bought the business from his dad and upgraded the name to Golden’s Casa Linda Keys — and just like that, it had his name and a touch of flair.

Around the same time, the business moved to what felt like a palace — a spacious 400 square feet in Casa Linda Plaza. We thought we had made it. We hired folks over the years, but Julie Robinson, who joined us in 1985, became part of the family. She stuck with us for over 36 years — Julie only stepped away when her health required it, but her presence still echoes through the shop.


In 1990, we moved down Garland Road to our current spot. Robert took a detour into home inspections for 15 years, then came back full-time — because once you’ve had the thrill of cutting keys, you just can’t stay away. Even after being diagnosed with MS around 2009, Robert continues to show up and contribute however he can

Speaking of family, both of Robert’s kids, Ari and Jordan, joined the ranks at some point — proving that key-cutting may be genetic. Jordan still works at the shop regularly, keeping the legacy (and the register) running.

In 2018, we struck locksmith gold again by hiring Zach Beam. He’s now our main service technician — often the only one — and the guy most likely to be found fixing panic bars, or unlocking that door you swore you had a key for.
